Inner Child

Dear Peregrin,

In the past few years I have become aware of a number of inner personalities. One of them, I call Janny, started out being a "bully". Slowly, as I got to know him, he changed into a very lonely little boy, who may have been sexually molested between ages 4 and 6 (there is no real proof of this event/s.) He seems to respond to cuddling and hugging a great deal. I had a dream last week in which I was holding and massaging him. Slowly his genitalia became a woman's. I have no idea what to make of this, for him or me.

Willi

Good morning, Willi.

Inner personalities can grow and change, just as we do in life. However, most of this change actually comes from our achieving a greater understanding of ourselves. Originally, Janny attacks others because he is frightened. As you learned to acknowledge that fear, he stopped attacking and instead learned to respond to a more positive emotion (love). Now, I think, he (and you) has revealed that which frightened him so: his own femininity (or that which you associate with femininity, including vulnerability). I think that this development means that you have learned to trust yourself.

Pleasant dreams,

Peregrin
