I have experienced a recurring dream for many years.
I am dreaming that I am in bed asleep, and my Grandmother [who died 2 yrs before my birth] through thoughts is asking me to let her in to my soul. I reply to her though telepathy that "I love my Gramma Rosie very much and any love and guidance she could offer now would be honored. She again asks to come in . I tell her she may not cross over but I am here to communicate with any time. She again asks to come in. I tell her no [ I feel by now that this is not my Grandmother.] She asks again I tell her to go away she is trying to trick me.
Then I awake from my dream in the dream to what appears to be aliens around my bed wondering if I am going to be okay and if I will remember. Through this dream, in my consious state I am trying everything I can to wake. I have a feeling of being very scared. I am trying to flee something. I have woken on one occasion with self inflicted scratch marks down my arms.
These dreams occur during the happiest times of my life........I am totally confused about this. Evey time I dream this dream I remember a little more.

One theme which seems to be present is the fear of giving up control of oneself. If you let your "grandmother" come in, as she asked, you probably feared that she would take over your life.
The aliens around your bed seem to be displaying some real concern over your well-being, yet you fear them anyway. So, what is trying to take over your life?
The symbols seem to point toward religion. I don't mean to keep harping on religion, but it does play an important role in our lives. In your dream, you have a ghost who wants to come in -- could this be the Holy Ghost that Christians are told they must let into their hearts? The alien beings could be another way of describing angels --
"There are four corners on my bed;
there are four angels 'round my head,"
as the old children's prayer goes.

If you would like to try some dream direction, one course of action that I would recommend is to confront the beings which frighten you. You can sometimes get a clearer message this way.

ReplyDeleteActually, you probably have heard this prayer. It's the forgotten first verse to the most well-known children's bedtime prayer.
There are four corners on by bed,
There are four angels 'round my head.
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John,
Bless the bed I lie upon.
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take.
My wife and I always considered the second verse to be very inappropriate for children, because the last thing they need to think about just before going to sleep is the possibility that they won't ever wake up.
