Christmas Baby

Hello,

I am 20 years old in college. The other night I had a dream that I was pregnant but was trying to hide the pregnancy. It was during Christmas time and I remember that I went into labor downstairs in my family's basement. I winded up having a boy named Nicholas. In the dream though, I don't remember having a pregnant stomach though.

In my life, I am a college student who has developed feelings and began a friendship with someone who I truly feel is the right person for me. Thanks so much!

Highway and Hotel

Last night I had a dream that me and my roommate were driving on a pretty abandoned highway. It was really snowing hard so we pulled over because we couldn't see anything. Then this man driving an old rusty car drove by and had a gun pointed at us. My roommate did not see it but I told her he had a gun. Then we turned the car around (she was driving) and as we were about to start driving the other way the man drove by us again with the gun. She saw it this time too. Then we drove away and got to a hotel like place but I think we lived there. We entered this room where there were a few children with their parents. It was a playroom. One child was being loud and obnoxious. My roommate and I got into the elevator and as we were getting in she told that child to be good and stop being bad. Then we up in the elevator and I woke up. It was just such a vivid dream it was weird. I was so terrified of the gun but once we got to the hotel I had seemed to forget it happened. Well that's it I think!

Sev

Good morning, Sev.

I'm not sure whether you had one dream or two. The complete separation of emotions suggest the latter, but the fact that your roommate was a constant presence says it was only one. Perhaps this will become clear to you as we proceed.

You describe the highway as "lonely." A lonely road is fairly straightforward - you feel as if you are alone in your journey through life. In this case, you have a constant companion. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that your roommate represents herself, although that is not always the case - she could be a part of your own personality that your roommate reminds you of.

It's snowing hard, which of course is going to limit driving visibility. So not only are you travelling a road that no one else does (so you can't follow anyone else), but you also cannot see what the future will bring.

The man with a gun is a threat, something that frightens you. He doesn't have anyone's face in particular, so you are not clear on the details of the threat. You see him first while your roommate does not, so it's not even an overly obvious threat until you point it out to her. You go back - retrace your steps, relive a part of your lives - to prove that the threat is real. Both times, however, he does not do you any actual harm - he doesn't shoot. So perhaps you are overreacting to a situation in your life which you see as dangerous?

Your roommate is the one driving. This is the main reason that I think she represents herself rather than a fragment of yourself, because when someone else drives your dream car and you are a passenger, this usually means that you do not feel as if you are in control of the relationship - the driver is. Before she turns the car around, you have to convince her of the problem. You are able to do this, but she is definitely the one making the decisions.

Most buildings represent the dreamer's innermost self, because buildings are "where we live." In this case, it's like a hotel, which is usually a temporary home. This may indicate a temporary nature to the relationship (again, with your roommate.) The one child who is being "bad," however, is definitely a rebellious part of yourself. You may feel as if you are reacting inappropriately (maybe as with the gunman?) and are trying to tell yourself to behave and play nice - to stop causing trouble.

Your roommate enter an elevator and go up. This could be a comment on the nature of the relationship (the place you live with her). The upper part of the building is closer to the head (intellect or soul), the middle the heart (emotions) and the lower is the body (instinct or physical). As you are going up, you are letting your higher self rule the relationship, while ignoring the unruly child - an instinct which protests for some reason. I don't get a sense of whether this is the right thing to do, only that this is what you feel you are doing.

I can't comment further without knowing more about what's going on in your waking life, but you may be able to make some connections from all this.

Pleasant dreams,

Peregrin

Parents Making Out

Dear Peregrin,

I had a dream that was very odd. My parents were having sex at different parts of the house. First their bed, then outside, then my bedroom floor. My brother and I were in my room when they were on my floor. I felt appalled and humiliated. Absolutely embarrassed as all hell. In the dream I was trying to avoid it and forget about it.

My whole life my parents have hated each other and wanted nothing to do with one another so such a dream is so shocking to me. Please give me your thoughts =]

Killing a Spider

Dear Peregrin,

I have recurring dreams about spiders roughly two times a week for as far back as I can remember. A common theme in all of the dreams is the change of the spider within each dream - from small to large and from hairy to not hairy. I'm almost always trying to kill the spider and it changes in appearance before I eventually am able to kill it. There's never a web involved in the dream, but there is usually a spider rapidly moving towards me while attached to a line.

I recently had a dream that stood out from the others. I was sitting in a bath tub, relaxing in warm water (no bubbles.) I open my eyes and see a spider (about the size of a quarter, with no hair, on the faucet.) I try to kill it with the wash cloth, but it moves. It then comes back as a large spider, the size of my hand, and is very hairy, yet spiny. It rapidly moves towards me on the line and I hit it away with my shampoo bottle. It keeps trying to attack me until I finally trap it between the shampoo bottle and the drain of the tub. I then slam the bottle down and it breaks into pieces which I can clearly see starting to move apart in the tub. This was by far the oddest spider dream I've had - any thoughts on what it could mean?

Thanks!

Krista

Coughing Up Blood

Dear Peregrin,

What does it mean when you dream about Coughing up blood, but it's more like vomiting because it came out in large amounts? Not only that, it was contagious in my dream. Please help me figure out what all this is about

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Paige

Hiding Sugar

Dear Peregrin,

Hi, my husband and I are not having good relationship, and I am wondering what my dream as the following tells me:

My husband is hiding 12 5-pound packages of white sugar under our bed. They are 3 packages in a roll, so totally 4 rolls. Some of them are torn, and others look old.
